Why colour-match matters

A repainted panel that does not match the rest of the car looks worse than the dent did. Modern paint codes give us the factory recipe, but every car has aged differently, sun, wax, the wash you used at the supermarket. We blend the repaired panel into the adjacent ones so the eye cannot find the edge.

How we do it

• Strip and prep. The panel is taken back to bare metal where needed, primed, and blocked flat.
• Colour match. We pull the manufacturer's colour code, mix the paint in-house, and spray a test card against the car before we commit.
• Spray. Waterborne basecoat in our downdraft booth, then clear coat on top. Downdraft means the dust falls away from the panel, not onto it.
• Bake. The booth bakes the paint at a controlled temperature so it cures hard the same day, not over a week sitting on the lot.
• Polish and blend. Final cut and polish where the new paint meets the old, and the panel goes back together.
